Our Mission and Charism: A Reflection

Before JMJ officially began, we spent a lot of time praying, discerning, and asking an important question:
What kind of community are we called to be?

JMJ wasn’t formed overnight. It grew over years—through conversations, quiet reflection, and a shared desire to build something rooted in love, service, and the sacredness of each person. During that time, we kept returning to one central truth:

God desires to dwell with us.

A Mission Rooted in Relationship

“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to dwell with you forever… you shall know Him because He will dwell with you and be in you.”
—John 14:16–17

This verse shaped everything.

Jesus doesn’t just want to walk beside us. He wants to live within us. Through the Holy Spirit, the Father and the Son make their home in our hearts.

As St. Paul reminds us:

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit… whom you have received from God?”
—1 Corinthians 6:19

And again in Galatians:

“It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”

This is the mystery we return to again and again.
It’s what grounds our work, fuels our care, and shapes our mission:
That every person—no matter their diagnosis, background, or ability—is a dwelling place for God.

The Heart of Our PASA

At JMJ, we don’t just provide services—we strive to build a community where love leads.

We believe in the quiet, powerful truth that God is present in the ordinary moments of daily life. That every act of care—whether helping with a routine, showing up for a family, or simply being present—is part of a larger mission of love and mutual indwelling.

Through the obscurity of faith and the wounds of love, we come to know that we belong to Him—and He to us.

That is our charism. That is what we hope you feel when you encounter JMJ:
Not just support, but sacred relationship.

A Community on Mission

As we continue to grow together, we ask for the grace to welcome the Lord more fully—into our hearts, our homes, and our service.

We’re so grateful for each of you—families, providers, individuals, and friends—who help us live this mission out day by day.

Let’s continue to ask for the gift of faith to recognize His presence among us.

Let’s enjoy His nearness.

Let’s build something beautiful, together.
