What do case management, nonprofit leadership, international travel and rhino rescue have in common? They are all part of the experience Kelly brings to the JMJ family.

For more than 11 years, Kelly has built her career around helping people access the support they need to live meaningful, self-directed lives. Now, she is bringing her people-first leadership style, broad perspective and genuine curiosity about others to JMJ.

We sat down with Kelly to talk about her journey from case management to organizational leadership, what drew her to JMJ and the lively family—both human and four-legged—that keeps her busy outside of work.

Tell us about your professional background.

I have worked in the nonprofit and social work sectors for more than 11 years, supporting individuals and connecting them with the resources they need to live meaningful, self-directed lives.

Earlier in my career, I worked in case management at Developmental Pathways. I advanced to Associate Director of Case Management before moving into a role overseeing community-funded programs for both providers and individuals.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to lead programs, oversee operations, improve organizational processes and manage personnel. Working across different organizational environments has also taught me to be adaptable and given me a valuable perspective on how organizations can grow while continuing to put people first.

How has your education shaped your work?

I hold a master’s degree in public administration. That education strengthened my understanding of leadership, organizational management and effective public service. I’m excited to apply that knowledge alongside my practical experience as JMJ continues to grow and evolve.

What are you most excited to bring to JMJ?

I’m excited to bring my diverse professional background and leadership experience to JMJ. I understand both the direct-service side of this work and the organizational systems needed to support it.

As JMJ grows, I hope to help strengthen its programs, teams and processes while ensuring that the people and families it serves always remain at the center of the mission.

What drew you to the JMJ mission?

What resonates with me most is JMJ’s commitment to seeing the whole person. Meaningful support begins with listening to individuals, respecting their goals and walking alongside them as they build the lives they want.

I’m truly excited to join the JMJ family and contribute to its mission of helping the agency grow and change lives.

What motivates you outside of work?

My family is my greatest priority. I’m a first-time mother to an energetic one-year-old, and I love watching him discover the world with so much curiosity and joy.

My husband and I also have two dogs and a cat—our original babies—and they are quite spoiled!

We hear you’re a serious animal lover. Is that true?

Absolutely! I have volunteered in different capacities with animal rescues for many years. My experience has included everything from dogs and cats to rhinos, so my love for animals reaches well beyond our pets at home.

What else brings you joy?

Travel is another passion of mine. I’ve been fortunate to explore many parts of the world, and I find great fulfillment in experiencing different cultures and learning about different ways of life. That curiosity and openness also influence how I connect with people and approach my work.
